Whittamores Farm

Whittamore’s Farm is a family-owned farm in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1953 by George Whittamore and his wife, Ann. Initially, the farm focused on growing fruits and vegetables, but over the years, it expanded its operations to include various activities and attractions for visitors.

One of the main highlights of Whittamore’s Farm was its pick-your-own produce fields. Visitors could come to the farm and enjoy the experience of harvesting fresh fruits and vegetables, including strawberries, raspberries, corn, pumpkins, and more. This activity was particularly popular during the respective seasons for each crop.

In addition to the pick-your-own fields, Whittamore’s Farm offered a range of other attractions and events. These included a farm market where visitors could purchase freshly picked produce, baked goods, preserves, and other local products. The farm also had a play area for children featuring slides, sandboxes, and farm-themed structures.

During the fall season, Whittamore’s Farm hosted a Harvest Festival, including hayrides, a corn maze, and a pumpkin patch. The farm was known for its Halloween-themed events, including a haunted forest and nighttime flashlight corn maze.

Over the years, Whittamore’s Farm became popular for families, school trips, and those looking to enjoy a day in the countryside. It allowed people to connect with nature, learn about farming, and experience the joy of picking fresh produce.

However, as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Whittamore’s Farm had announced that it would be closing its operations at the end of the 2021 season. The decision was made due to various factors, including changes in the local agricultural landscape, urbanization, and the Whittemore family’s desire to retire. It is advisable to check for the most recent updates or contact the farm directly for any changes in its status or reopening plans.
