Assistance in Applying:

1. Applying with the Help of a Trusted Person:

  • You can request assistance from a trusted person, such as a friend, relative, caregiver, translator, or interpreter.
  • You must provide clear consent to let them help you with the application, either by phone or by visiting a Service Canada office.

2. Applying through a Delegate:

  • Delegates are individuals with legal authority to represent and make decisions on your behalf.
  • They can represent you if they are listed as your delegate on documents like Powers of attorney/mandates or Trusteeships.
  • Delegates must provide the necessary documents proving their legal authority before applying on your behalf.

Submitting Proof of Delegate Documents:

  • If you or your delegate are sending documents by mail, include a cover letter with the applicant’s full name, Social Insurance Number (SIN), a statement mentioning the CDCP, the delegate’s contact information, and a return address.
